Art

You call that art?

I started taking art classes (once a fortnight) in August 2015. Going back to the basics, I started out with graphite pencil, and I do believe that you can see some real progress.

Enjoy!

Updates:
I received some proper watercolour paints for Christmas, so am going to give them a go, though I think I’m more included to work with mixed media. Now to find suitable subject matter that will be challenging, but not frustrating.
Moving on to something called Brusho, which is a crystalline powder that is activated with water. In other words, a form of watercolour. I’ve been warned that watercolour can be challenging, so be prepared for awful stuff to begin with, and watch me progress over the course of the year.
I’ve progressed to pastels. The idea of working with colour is really exciting, yet I’m a little hesitant, as I know that pastels can smudge quite easily. I hope to have a set of soft pastels of my own by Christmas – currently I’m using my teacher’s pastels – so that I can practise outside of class. They cost a lot more than graphite pencils though … there goes my chocolate budget for the next six months.

I have not one artistic bone in my body. But I recognize when I see the results from people who do. YOU are an artist! Very pleasing pics. Bravo Zulu!@

Primitive but better than I could ever do. You need to work on sizing and proportions. Your better artwork doesn’t have those problems, and the better artwork is simpler without the sizing requirements. Try landscapes it will help you get sizing and proportions down.

Why not use the artwork on the cover of your books? Just an idea.

I think you’re very talented, and your son is right about encouraging you. Keep up the good work.

I would just like to say that I was a subscriber to your newsletter back when you first signed up for the art class, and was 1) curious as to what you would learn 2) interested if art class could really teach anyone, natural talent or none, to be an ‘artist’ or develop an artistic talent 3) looking forward to watching your development and comparing your original artwork ( which you often included in your newsletter ????) with the artwork you produced as you progressed. This has been an inspiring journey from the spectators stand and obviously an incredible blossoming… Read more »

Wow, looks great. Interesting that this comes in todayt. I am right now “negotiating” with a watercolour artist for the image for my next book. I’ve done all my own covers, but this one is rea;lly personal and need to “strike a chord” in a biog way, so Im going to let someone with some REAL talent take a crack at it. Having worked as a professional photographer for many yearrs i initially wanted to create a photo, but I know I cant get what I want in time so im trying this route. Ive had good luck with Fiverr… Read more »
